SMM, 5 Sept.: recently, the US Forestry Administration has publicly released an environmental impact report on the Resolution copper mine owned by Rio Tinto (DEIS), which has conducted a rigorous assessment of the project over a period of more than six years, including extensive public participation. The release of the report is a milestone for the Resolution project.
The Resolution copper mine, one of the most important undeveloped copper projects in the world, or will meet 25 per cent of copper demand in the US, complements other Rio Tinto copper projects, such as reducing losses caused by delays in Oyu Tolgoi's planned production expansion.
Rio owns 55 per cent of the project and BHP owns the remaining 45 per cent.
At the same time, Rio Tinto said that due to the future electrification, the development of electric vehicles and the gradual expansion of renewable energy share, the gradual tightening of copper supply side will be good for the development of copper industry chain in the future.
