SHANGHAI, Aug 30 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city, and Tianjin port decreased by 1,000 mt from a week ago to stand at 59,000 mt as of Friday August 30, showed SMM data.
Sharply higher silicon prices deterred traders from purchasing this week, and kept stocks at ports barely changed, while stocks in Kunming declined as producers shipped their cargoes directly to buyers, instead of first to social warehouses.
Stocks in Kunming did not expand, even as southern producers swung into high gear in a rainy season.
