SHANGHAI, Aug 29 (SMM) – China exported 33,041 mt of unwrought manganese, manganese scrap and powder, wrought manganese and manganese products in July, down 17.1% from June, showed the latest data from China Customs.

Electrolytic manganese, including unwrought manganese, manganese scrap and powder, accounted for 29,432.92 mt, down 17.33% from a month ago and 6.88% from a year ago.

Exports of wrought manganese and manganese products fell 15.13% month on month but rose 26.45% year on year to stand at 3,608.04 mt last month.

The decline in exports came in line with the expectations of Chinese exporters, as European stainless steel plants often suspend in July-August.

Chinese manganese exporters expect sales to pick up at the start of September, as stainless steel mills overseas return from the summer break.
