SMM News: in the first seven months of 2019, refined copper production rose 13.4% year-on-year, refined zinc production soared 3.3% year-on-year, and crude steel production fell 1.2%, according to data released Wednesday by the Statistical Commission of Kazakhstan.
KAZ Minerals, a London-listed copper miner, and Kazzinc, a unit of Glencore, account for a large portion of Kazakhstan's metal production. ArcelorMittal owns the only large steel mill in the country, located in Temirtau.
