[SMM Analysis] From Scrap Exports to Recycled Aluminum Products: How Could EU Waste Rules Reshape Trade?
EU aluminum scrap policy is shifting from export duties toward WSR-based environmental controls. Tighter rules could retain more scrap in Europe, but absorption will depend on feedstock compatibility, processing capacity and demand. Trade may also shift from direct scrap exports toward regional recycling and exports of remelt ingots, recycled billets and secondary alloys, prompting Asian buyers to reassess sourcing and processing.
