Aluminium billet stocks extend increases on poor consumption

Inventories across five major consumption areas in China grew some 12,500 mt week on week as of Aug 8

SHANGHAI, Aug 8 (SMM) – Inventories of aluminium billet in China continued to expand this week as downstream consumption remained weak.

SMM data showed that stocks of 6063 aluminium billet across five major consumption areas grew some 12,500 mt from Thursday August 1 to stand at 95,900 mt as of Thursday August 8, after they climbed 700 mt in the previous week.

Foshan, Guangdong – 50,800 mt

Wuxi, Jiangsu – 16,800 mt

Changzhou, Jiangsu – 13,000 mt

Huzhou, Zhejiang – 8,500 mt

Nanchang, Jiangxi – 6,800 mt
