SMM News: recently, the Suzhou Industrial Park Management Committee and the Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) held a signing ceremony, will cooperate to build China and South Korea Industrial Technology Innovation Research Institute. In the future, the Innovation Research Institute will build a new platform for industrial cooperation and talent exchange between China and South Korea in the high-tech field around the direction and needs of industrial development in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Founded in 1971, the Korean Academy of Science and Technology is the first research university in South Korea to train top scientific and technological personnel. After more than 40 years of development, the Korean Academy of Sciences has enjoyed a high reputation in the global academic field for its international standard of education and research and development capabilities. It has been named the most innovative university in Asia for three years in a row, ranking 41st in the 2020QS World University ranking. As a research university, the Korean Academy of Sciences has continuously transported a large number of high-tech talents for the take-off of the Korean economy, and has become an important driving force for the development of science and technology in South Korea.
Suzhou has maintained close economic and trade cooperation with South Korea for a long time. Since the development and construction of the park in 1994, it has become an important window for Korean enterprises to invest in Suzhou. By 2018, Korean capital had invested in nearly 400 enterprises in the park, with a total investment of more than US $6.6 billion.
The newly signed China-ROK Industrial and technological Innovation Research Institute project will serve as the headquarters organization for the development of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology in China, building a bridge and platform for China and South Korea to carry out international cooperation, docking of technological achievements, landing of talents, and other omni-directional exchanges and cooperation in the field of high technology. In the future, the Industrial technological Innovation Research Institute of China and South Korea will focus on key areas such as semiconductors, biomedicine and nanotechnology around the direction and needs of industrial development in the Yangtze River Delta region. It will also carry out scientific research and international cooperation with universities that have close cooperation with the Industrial technological Innovation Research Institute of China and South Korea; relying on the Industrial technological Innovation Research Institute of China and South Korea, the Dade Research Zone of South Korea and Banqiao Science and Technology Park, introduce high-quality science and technology projects into the park. In addition, an offshore innovation center will be set up, which will become an important platform and window for the park to carry out in-depth international cooperation in South Korea.
At the signing ceremony, Solu?tionlink, an alumnus of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, signed a tripartite strategic cooperation agreement with the Dushuhu Science and Education Innovation District Management Committee and the Merchants Department of Zhongxin Group on landing in the park in the future.
