Rusal joint venture cable plant put into production to develop high value-added products nameplate production capacity is expected to reach 4400 tons

SMM7 month 30: Rusal (Rusal) recently announced that the Bogolsovsk cable factory (BCF), which cooperates with ELKA-Cable Group, has been officially put into production, and all raw aluminum is provided by Rusal.

If it can be fully put into production within three years, the nameplate capacity of the plant is expected to reach 4400 tons.

The two companies signed an agreement in 2016, each with a 50 per cent stake, with a total investment of 765 million roubles ($12 million).

The project is part of Rusal's plan to create new processing operations and high value-added competitive products.

Rusal also mentioned in its second-quarter results that sales of aluminum value-added products were 414000 tons in the second quarter, up 59.9 percent from a month earlier, mainly because the company aims to increase the share of value-added production in total sales through the development of downstream business, which will be one of the strategic centers of the company.
