Seasonality, trader purchases grow silicon social stocks

Stocks rose 7,000 mt from a week ago to 63,000 mt as of Jul 26

SHANGHAI, Jul 26 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city, and Tianjin port extended their increases this week, gaining 7,000 mt from a week ago to 63,000 mt as of Friday July 26, showed SMM data.

The majority of gains in stocks were seen in Kunming this week, as traders stepped up their procurement from producers in the past two weeks. Seasonality also accounted for the higher social inventories.

The two ports saw slightly greater flows of cargoes this week.
