Price CenterDatabaseProReportsEventsCar InsightSHANGHAI, Jul 24 (SMM) – China imported some 1.33 million mt of chromite (chrome ore) in June, down 1.22% from May but up 29.43% from June 2018, according to the latest data from China Customs.
In the first half of this year, domestic imports of chromite, an essential raw material in steelmaking, stood at 7.6 million mt, up 1.13%, or 85,000 mt, from the same period of 2018.
Separately, customs data also showed that China’s imports of high-carbon ferrochrome, used in the production of stainless steel, declined 21.12%, or 68,000 mt, from May to stand at 254,000 mt in June.
