SMM7, 23 Feb: on Monday, US President Donald Trump met with leaders of a number of technology companies, including Google, Qualcomm, Cisco, Intel, Meguang, Western Digital and Botong, to discuss the government's ban on Huawei supplies.

In a statement Monday afternoon, the White House also said the chief executives of the technology companies "asked the Commerce Department to make a timely licensing decision, and the president agreed."

But a spokesman for the U.S. Department of Commerce declined to say whether any companies were granted permission to sell goods.

Earlier, US Commerce Secretary Ross said he would license companies that "do not pose a threat to US national security" to do business with Huawei. He said the move was aimed at fulfilling the commitments made by US President Donald Trump to China at the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan.
