China’s imports of copper scrap decline 15.8% YoY in Jun

China imported 170,000 mt of copper scrap in Jun, barely changed from May but down 15.8% from Jun 2018

SHANGHAI, Jul 23 (SMM) – China imported 170,000 mt of copper scrap in June, barely changed from May but down 15.8% from June 2018, according to monthly report released by China’s General Administration of Customs on Tuesday July 23.

This brought copper scrap imports to 850,000 mt in the first half of the year, down 25.8% year on year.

China’s imports of aluminium scrap also held stable from a month ago and came in at 180,000 mt in June. This was up 66.2% from a year ago.

In January-June, imports of aluminium scrap inched up 0.1% year on year to 840,000 mt.
