China plans to grade 15 key industries, including steel, coal, cement and chemical, according to how environmentally-friendly they are, to improve production curbs in heavily-polluted weather, according to a report by Economic Information Daily on Thursday July 18.
Heavy industries across Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River delta and the Fenwei Plain, will received grades of A, B or C, according to their production technologies, pollution treatment and other indicators.
This is part of the government’s commitment to stop using blanket initiatives in anti-smog output controls.
