SHANGHAI, Jul 18 (SMM) – Production and sales of motorcycles in China expanded both on the yearly and monthly basis in June, showed the latest data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
In June, domestic production of motorcycles came in at 1.48 million units, up 2.83% from May and up 8.09% from June 2018, after it lost 0.64% year-on-year in May.
Sales in June climbed 4.34% on the month, and rose 6.74% on the year, to stand at 1.47 million units, following a year-over-year decline of 1.32% in May.
In the first half of 2019, production and sales of motorcycles totalled 7.81 million units and 7.77 million units, respectively, with smaller year-on-year declines compared with that in January-May.
Chinese consumers who purchase electric motorcycles and light electric motorcycles will be exempted from purchase taxes from July 1, according to the Ministry of Finance on May 23.
