Expanded secondary lead capacity at Guangdong Hongxing to come online in Aug

Annualised capacity of secondary refined lead will grow to 31,800 mt

SHANGHAI, Jul 18 (SMM) – Guangdong-based secondary lead smelter Hongxing Nonferrous Metals, currently with a treatment capacity of 15,000 mt/year for lead-containing wastes, is scheduled to start new capacity in August, a source told SMM on Thursday July 18.  

Upon completion of expansion, the mill will have a treatment capacity of 50,000 mt/year for waste lead-acid batteries, 31,500 mt/year for lead-containing wastes. 

Its annualised capacity of secondary refined lead will expand to 31,800 mt, with 11,00 mt of capacity of high-end lead alloy, and 25,000 mt of standard lead alloy for lead-acid battery use. 

The company invested some 110 million yuan in the expansion project.
