According to wholesale sales data from passenger car manufacturers, new energy passenger car sales reached 570000 units from January to June 2019, up 65 per cent from a year earlier. Although the overall sales volume of China's automobile market continues to be depressed, the new energy vehicle market continues to rise against the trend. This high growth rate is also related to the trend of grabbing subsidies before subsidy retreat. With subsidies for new energy vehicles declining, how did the manufacturers of new energy vehicles perform in the first half of the year? Did sales meet their own expectations?

BYD: 228100 new energy vehicles accounted for 64 per cent of total sales in the first half of the year

BYD recently released sales figures for new energy vehicles in the first half of the year. BYD sold a total of 228072 new cars from January to June this year, up 1.59 per cent from a year earlier. Of these, sales of new energy models reached 145653, accounting for 64 per cent. Pure electric vehicles are the main growth point, reaching 95779 units, a three-fold increase from 23840 last year.

BYD aims to sell 650000 units this year, with 228100 units completed in the first half of the year, a sign of continued pressure in the second half of the year. The overall decline of the car market has made BYD's fuel truck camp appear tired, but the new energy camp has made great strides. In the second half of the year, the successive launch of blockbuster models and self-sufficient battery supplies may help BYD meet its annual goals.

BAIC New Energy: sales of New Energy vehicles increased by 21.57% in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year

On July 9, BAIC Blue Valley New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as "BAIC New Energy"), a listed company of BAIC Group, released KuaiBao for production and marketing in June. From January to June this year, BAIC's cumulative sales of new energy vehicles were 65159, up 21.57 per cent from a year earlier.

BAIC's new energy sales accounted for 11.3% of the sales of new energy passenger vehicles in the first half of the year, and BAIC's production and sales of new energy vehicles declined significantly. BAIC explained that the fluctuation of sales volume of the EC series of low-end models is one of the important factors affecting sales.

According to public information, BAIC aims to sell 220000 new energy vehicles this year. From this point of view, BAIC sold only 65000 vehicles in the first half of this year, only more than 20% of the annual target. In the second half of the year, SMM will continue to pay attention to whether BAIC new energy can achieve sales of more than 150000 vehicles all the way.

This is the first time in nearly 10 years that SAIC has experienced negative growth in operating income and net profit in the first quarter.

Geely Automobile: new Energy and electrified vehicles increased by 301.06% in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year

In the first half of the year, the cumulative export volume reached 38619 vehicles, an increase of 343.95 percent over the same period last year, and the cumulative sales of new energy and electrified models reached 57600 vehicles, an increase of 301.06 percent over the same period last year. In terms of cumulative sales, although still ranked first in Chinese brand passenger car sales, cumulative sales in the first half of the year were down 14.99 per cent from the same period last year. As a result, Geely has cut its full-year sales target by 10 per cent to 1.36 million and has now completed 47.92 per cent. This year, however, Geely is still doing well in the areas of car exports and new energy vehicles. Geely sold 57600 new energy and electrified models in the first six months of this year.

More than half of the trip, from the current sales data, Chery New Energy is facing a lot of pressure in the second half of the year.

Jianghuai Automobile: sales of pure electric passenger cars in the first half of the year were 39000, up 95 per cent from the same period last year

On July 5, Jianghuai Automobile released the production and marketing of KuaiBao. According to the data, the company's cumulative sales in the first half of the year were 235155, down 6.78 per cent from a year earlier. Of these, sales of pure electric passenger cars were 9842, up 429 per cent from a year earlier. From January to June, Jianghuai sold a total of 235200 new cars, down 6.78 percent from a year earlier, of which 39000 were pure electric passenger cars, up 95 per cent from a year earlier. It is reported that Jianghuai new energy sales target for 2019 is 80,000 vehicles, an increase of 60% over last year.

In the first half of 2019, the full edition of the sales list of new car-building forces was released. After the total sales in the first five months, Xiaopeng still ranked first, with a total sales of 9596 vehicles. The second and third places are Weilai and Weima cars, with sales of 7481 vehicles and 7458 vehicles.

The New Power of making cars on the Internet

Weilai cars: a total of 7481 wholesale vehicles in the first half of the year

On July 10, according to Weilai Automobile's second quarter financial report, a total of 1340 Weilai ES8 and Weilai ES6 were delivered in the first two months of the second quarter, and the total ES6 delivery in June was 413. from January to May, 5766 vehicles were insured, and a total of 7481 vehicles were wholesale in the first half of the year. It is worth mentioning that Weilai has set a sales target of 30, 000 vehicles for 2019, which is clearly difficult to achieve based on ES8's current sales. The good news is that the more affordable ES6, which began delivery at the end of June, will become a stronger growth engine for Weilai.

Weima Motor: a total of 8747 wholesale vehicles in the first half of the year

According to the relevant information of Weima Motor, a total of 4085 new cars were delivered in the first quarter of 2019, surpassing the 3989 of Weilai cars in the same quarter and realizing "bend overtaking." In the second quarter, Wema EX5 delivered a total of 2056 vehicles in May, with a total of 8747 wholesale vehicles in the first half of the year. Considering its annual sales target of 100,000 vehicles, Weima sold less than 10,000 vehicles in half a year. I can't help but worry about whether Weimar can achieve his goal. And Weima into the online ride-hailing market seems to be able to achieve its goals to ease the pressure.

Xiaopeng cars: a total of 9596 wholesale vehicles in the first half of the year

According to data from the Federation of multiplier, the cumulative sales of Xiaopeng G3 reached 7359 in January-May, 2237 in June, 5505 in January-May, and 9596 in the first half of the year. In the first half of 2019, the cumulative wholesale volume won the best results of the new forces in building cars, which was a commendation for Xiaopeng cars. Compared with Weima's 2019 sales target of 100000 vehicles, Xiaopeng's full-year sales target of 40, 000 vehicles is more realistic. Xiaopeng only needs to sell an average of 4663 G3s a month in the second half of the year to achieve this goal. But Xiaopeng car's second model P7 will not be delivered until the second quarter of 2020, only rely on the G3 to seize the new energy market in 2019, the anti-risk ability is slightly weak.

Foreign capital and joint ventures

BMW: I-Series sales up 22.0% in the first half of the year five-Series plug-in up 43.4% in the first half of the year

BMW sales hit an all-time high of 1.25 million vehicles in the first half of 2019, up 0.8 per cent from a year earlier. Total sales of the BMW single brand also rose 1.6 per cent to 1075959 vehicles, a new record. One of the most notable models is the i3, an increase of 21.2% over the same period last year. It comes at a time when global demand for electric cars is starting to grow dramatically. In electric cars, sales of the I-series rose 22.0% in the first half of the year, the i3 rose 21.2% over the same period, and sales of the BMW 5-series plug-in hybrid increased by 43.4%, reflecting a significant increase in global consumer demand for electric cars. On the market side, BMW Group delivered more than 350000 electric vehicles to customers by the end of 2018. According to the previous plan that BMW Group will have more than 500000 electric vehicles on the road by the end of 2019, BMW will have to sell another 150000 vehicles this year to meet its target.

Mercedes-Benz car

For the 2019 sales target, Mercedes-Benz put forward a sales target of 560000 vehicles, an increase of about 15 per cent over the same period last year, plus the target of about 200000 imported vehicles, Mercedes-Benz's overall sales target may be about 760000 vehicles in 2019.

Tesla: nearly 160000 vehicles were delivered in the first half of the year

Earlier, Tesla released the second quarter sales report of 2019, and Tesla set a new record for production and delivery in the second quarter, achieving the production of 87048 vehicles and the delivery of about 95200 vehicles. Between January and March 2019, Tesla delivered a total of 63000 vehicles, up 110 per cent from the same period last year, but down 31 per cent from the previous quarter. In the past 2018, Tesla sold 245506 electric cars, thanks entirely to the popularity of the Model 3, a star model that sold 144330 vehicles that year and became the highest-selling high-end brand in North America. In addition, Elon Musk also said on Twitter that Tesla will produce 500000 vehicles in 2019, and then he corrected his target of delivery to 400000 vehicles. From January to June this year, Tesla delivered nearly 160000 vehicles, some distance from the target of 400000, but with the completion of the Chinese factory and joining the production force, it is believed that the target of 400000 vehicles will not be too far away.

Halfway through 2019, sales figures have improved, but the winter is still cold. And the new energy vehicle industry is like this cold winter in a touch of setting sun, production and sales to maintain the growth trend, into the accelerated development stage. In the first half of 2019, BYD was the only company with a cumulative sales volume of more than 100000 new energy vehicles, with sales of 145700 vehicles. Manufacturers that sold more than 50,000 new energy vehicles in the first half of this year included SAIC New Energy, BAIC New Energy and Geely New Energy.
