Primary aluminium inventories hold stable on week

Stocks barely changed from a week ago and stood at 1.042 million mt as of Jul 18

SHANGHAI, Jul 18 (SMM) – Social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, barely changed from a week ago and stood at 1.042 million mt as of Thursday July 18, showed SMM data.

This came after the first weekly increase in about four months in the week ended July 11.

Wuxi, Jiangsu – 320,000 mt

Shanghai – 201,000 mt

Nanhai, Guangdong – 258,000 mt

Gongyi, Henan – 105,000 mt

Hangzhou, Zhejiang – 68,000 mt

Tianjin – 53,000 mt

Linyi, Shandong – 14,000 mt

Chongqing –23,000 mt

After the open, prices quickly fell to an intraday low of 22,765 yuan/mt, then bottomed out and rebounded, fluctuating upward. During the session, the tug-of-war between longs and shorts was intense, with prices repeatedly seesawing; toward the close, prices gradually moved higher, recouping most of the losses. It ultimately closed up 1.49% at 23,090 yuan/mt.
