SHANGHAI, Jul 17 (SMM) – China is expected to build 50 gigawatts of solar power projects this year, with 40-45 GW of capacity hooked up to its grid, according to a report by China National Renewable Energy Centre.
The National Energy Administration on July 11 announced its 2019 list of solar power projects that could enjoy subsidies from the national government.
A total of 3,921 projects are on the list, with installation capacity of 22.79GW. Centralized stations account for 79.5%, while the rest are distributed.
The government is estimated to spend 1.7 billion yuan to support those projects.
Massive starts of the construction of those projects are expected at the end of August, in a bid to progress as scheduled, otherwise subsides will be scaled back.
