SHANGHAI, Jul 16 (SMM) – The Fengrun district of China’s top steelmaking hub of Tangshan on Monday July 15 released its smog-control plan for the second half of July, sticking to its commitment to strict production curbs.
Tianzhu Steel and Xinbaotai Steel will be required to extend their output cuts or suspension during July 16-31.
This is an extension of the city's original plan, which exempted Tianzhu from curbs in the second half of the month and imposed shorter restriction periods on Xinbaotai.
SMM also learned that power supply to steel rolling mills in Tangshan was cut off over the weekend, another reflection of the government’s intention to ensure thorough implementation of production cuts across the region.
Fengrun’s move came after Wu'an, another steelmaking hub in Hebei, tightened its production curbs on local steel mills and extended the cutback period by a month till the end of August.
