According to a survey by Shanghai Color Network (SMM), the start-up rate of lead concentrate in June was 52.4%, up 5.2% from last month. The survey involved 86 enterprises with a production capacity of 767000 tons.

According to SMM investigation, the operating rate of lead concentrate continued to rise in June, mainly because mining enterprises in Inner Mongolia, Tibet and Qinghai basically ended the seasonal shutdown, and the output contribution basically returned to the normal level. According to the size of mining enterprises, the specific reasons are as follows:

The operating rate of large mining enterprises with an annual production capacity of more than 10,000 tons rose 3.2 percentage points to 45.6 percent from the previous month, mainly due to the fact that mining enterprises in the high altitude areas of the north have basically completed the resumption of production and gradually released their output.

The operating rate of medium-sized mining enterprises with an annual production capacity of 0.5000 tons rose 10.3 percentage points from the previous month to 72.2%. In addition to the impact of the end of the seasonal shutdown, some mining enterprises, such as Hebei Huayao Mining Industry, due to unsatisfactory processing fees, the resumption of production is slow after the year, and production has returned to the normal level in the near future.

The operating rate of small mining enterprises with an annual production capacity of less than 5000 tons rose 7.4 percentage points to 55 percent compared with the previous month. In addition to the above factors, the raw ore taste of some mines in Shaanxi and Liaoning has increased, which has contributed to the increase in the output of lead concentrate.

To sum up, the total output of lead concentrate continued to increase in June.

Lead prices were in the doldrums, while secondary lead smelters maintained firm offers due to losses. The mainstream spot order ex-factory prices including tax narrowed the discount to the SMM #1 lead average price by 100 yuan/mt, shifting to a premium of 0–25 yuan/mt, with some smelters halting offers and sales.

Pre-holiday stockpiling by downstream enterprises had largely concluded, and a few had already entered the holiday period, completely suspending procurement. Next week, secondary lead smelters will enter a concentrated wave of production halts and holidays, resulting in sluggish trading activity in the spot market. Offers for spot refined lead orders were sparse, with prices moving in line with the market.

Sluggish Transactions in Domestic Secondary Crude Lead Market, Prices at 15,250-15,400 Yuan/mt
The domestic secondary crude lead market experienced sluggish transactions. As of February 6, 2026, the ex-factory tax-exclusive offers for domestic secondary crude lead stood at 15,250-15,400 yuan/mt. Downstream refined lead and alloy smelters gradually entered the holiday period, showing weak stockpiling willingness. Overseas lead ingot suppliers basically halted transactions with China due to poor consumption in the Chinese market, with only some previously concluded shipments maintaining normal in-transit transportation. The trading atmosphere in the secondary crude lead market will continue to weaken next week.
