SMM7 15-Raul Jacob, chief financial officer of Southern Copper (Southern Copper), said the company has been in continuous dialogue with local residents over the past two years and has won the trust of important local groups, so it has greatly increased the likelihood of normal implementation of the project.
However, the company still insists that if the time is not right, it will not rush to start construction of the project. But South Copper had promised to invest in local hospitals and health systems to benefit local residents once it obtained a mining license.
With regard to possible protests, Jacob also said the government could station hundreds of police officers.
Opponents of the project said last week that they would go on strike indefinitely until their permits were revoked.
