ISSF: Global stainless Steel production fell 2.5 per cent from January to March compared with the same period last year

Global stainless steel production was 12.464 million tons from January to March 2019, down 2.5 per cent from a year earlier, but up 5.4 per cent from the previous quarter, according to data released by ISSF on Tuesday. Chinese companies produced 643400 tons of stainless steel, down 1.5 per cent from a year earlier, but up 4.4 per cent from the previous quarter.

SMM7, 10 Feb: global stainless steel production was 12.464 million tons from January to March 2019, down 2.5 percent from a year earlier, but up 5.4 percent from the previous quarter, according to data released Tuesday by ISSF (International stainless Steel Forum).

Chinese companies produced 643400 tons of stainless steel, down 1.5 per cent from a year earlier, but up 4.4 per cent from the previous quarter.

The output of stainless steel in Asian countries except China and South Korea is 1.961 million tons.

Stainless steel production in Europe also fell over the same period from a year earlier, down 5.7 per cent from a year earlier to 1.899 million tons.

Us stainless steel production in the January-March period was 704000 tons, down 2 per cent from a year earlier.
