SHANGHAI, Jul 10 (SMM) – Excavator sales in China grew 6.6% from a year ago to stand at 15,121 units in June, after declining 2.15% year on year to 18,897 units in May, according to data from China Construction Machinery Association.
Last month, some 12,409 excavators were sold domestically, down 0.3% year on year, while exports expanded 56.4% from a year ago to stand at 2,695 units.
This brought sales across the top 25 excavator makers in January-June to 137,207 units, with a year-over-year increase of 14.2%. Sales in January-May expanded 15.2% from the same period last year.
In the first half of this year, domestic excavator sales rose 12.2% year on year to 124,752 units, and exports grew 38.7% from a year ago to 12,335 units.
Sales of digging machines are usually driven by growth in mining and infrastructure development.
