China releases 2nd batch of copper scrap import quotas after restrictions

Some 124,450 mt of copper scrap received the green light

SHANGHAI, Jul 10 (SMM) – Some 124,450 mt of copper scrap received the green light for import into China, as the environment ministry issued on Wednesday July 10 the second batch of import quotas following the import restrictions on Category Six materials on July 1. 

The latest approval covered importers in areas of Tianjin, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, and Guangdong, with Guangdong’s firms receiving 73.68% of the approved volume. 

The first batch of quotas allowed the import of 240,429 mt of copper scrap, mostly involving importers in Zhejiang province.
