Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mining said there was no official confirmation that Southern Copper's Tia Maria project, owned by (Southern Copper), would be licensed for mining this week. Peruvian officials say all relevant information will be released through official channels.

But last week, Oscar Gonzalez Rocha, chief executive of Southern Copper, said the company had been hoping that the Peruvian government would license its $1.4 billion Tia Maria project, which is expected to happen this week.
