MEE to dispatch first batch of environmental inspectors to 6 provinces, cities

This includes Shanghai, Fujian, Hainan, Chongqing, Gansu and Qinghai as well as state-owned China Minmetals and ChemChina

SHANGHAI, Jul 8 (SMM) – Inspectors from central authorities will arrive across Shanghai, Fujian, Hainan, Chongqing, Gansu and Qinghai as well as state-owned China Minmetals and China National Chemical (ChemChina), and will stay for about a month, according to a statement from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment on its WeChat account on Monday July 8.

This will mark the start of the second round of nationwide environmental probes by the MEE.

In response to the central government’s environmental supervision campaign, Guizhou province will launch probes across the region during July 15-30. This suspended secondary lead smelters in Taijiang county of Guizhou, SMM learned, which is expected to impact output of secondary lead by close to 1,000 mt per day.
