The weekly opening rate of the SMM renewable lead smelter in the three provinces was 52.5 per cent this week (June 28-July 5), up 5.4 per cent from the previous month, according to a survey by (SMM), a Shanghai-based website.

Among them, the operating rate of Jiangsu reclaimed lead smelter was 50.0%, which was the same as that of last week; the operating rate of Henan reclaimed lead licensed smelter was 65.3%, down 10.1% from last week, mainly due to the implementation of air pollution control in Jiyuan area of Henan Province. Henan Jinli's waste battery disposal capacity was affected, under normal circumstances, waste battery treatment capacity of 800 tons / day, this week dropped to 600 tons / day; The operation rate of Anhui reclaimed lead smelter was 45.9%, an increase of 27.5% over last week. The main reason was that the overhaul of Anhui Huabing Phase II production line ended as scheduled and began trial production on July 3. The output of the second phase production line is recovering one after another and increasing production.

Pre-holiday stockpiling by downstream enterprises had largely concluded, and a few had already entered the holiday period, completely suspending procurement. Next week, secondary lead smelters will enter a concentrated wave of production halts and holidays, resulting in sluggish trading activity in the spot market. Offers for spot refined lead orders were sparse, with prices moving in line with the market.

Sluggish Transactions in Domestic Secondary Crude Lead Market, Prices at 15,250-15,400 Yuan/mt
The domestic secondary crude lead market experienced sluggish transactions. As of February 6, 2026, the ex-factory tax-exclusive offers for domestic secondary crude lead stood at 15,250-15,400 yuan/mt. Downstream refined lead and alloy smelters gradually entered the holiday period, showing weak stockpiling willingness. Overseas lead ingot suppliers basically halted transactions with China due to poor consumption in the Chinese market, with only some previously concluded shipments maintaining normal in-transit transportation. The trading atmosphere in the secondary crude lead market will continue to weaken next week.
