China to draft new-energy development plan for 2021-2035

The new plan will centre on improving environmental quality and highlight technicalities in production

SHANGHAI, Jul 3 (SMM) – The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) is stepping up efforts to draft a road map for the development of China's new-energy vehicle sector in 2021-2035, said Xin Guobin, vice-minister of MIIT, at the 2019 World New Energy Vehicle Congress on Tuesday July 2. 

The new plan will target the improvement of environmental quality, and highlight various technical methods in production, independent innovation of enterprises, as well as sustainable development. A new dual-credit scheme for NEV production and fuel consumption of gasoline cars will also be covered. 

The 2019 World New Energy Vehicle Congress was held in the city of Boao, south China's island province of Hainan on July 1-3.
