Australian, Brazilian iron ore shipments rise on week

Deliveries leaving Australian ports rose 1.81 million mt from the previous week to 15.93 million mt

SHANGHAI, Jul 2 (SMM) – Iron ore shipments from Australia and Brazil expanded last week, as deliveries from Australian ports picked up, and deliveries from Brazilian ports grew for a second straight week.

In the week ended June 29, iron ore deliveries leaving Australian ports rose 1.81 million mt from the previous week to 15.93 million mt, and those departing Brazilian ports increased by 340,000 mt to 7.33 million mt, showed SMM data.

SMM estimates that 79 vessels carrying 12.32 million mt of seaborne iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports for the same week, up 1.26 million mt from the week ended June 22.

Qingdao and Caofeidian ports saw more arrivals, while Jingtang and Rizhao ports continued to see declines.
