In April 2019, China's imports of cobalt raw materials totaled 4800 tons, down 19.7 percent from the previous month and 13.7 percent from the same period last year. Among the imported raw materials, cobalt ore imported 795 metal tons (converted on the basis of 8 per cent grade), an increase of 363 per cent from the previous month, down 22 per cent from the same period last year, and 3837 metal tons imported from cobalt hydrometallurgy (converted at 27 per cent grade), down 33 per cent from the previous month and 12 per cent from the same period last year. On the price side, the average import price of cobalt hydrometallurgy intermediate products in April was US $28040 per metal ton, down 0.1 per cent from the previous month and 59 per cent from the same period last year.
