Lithium carbonate imports more than doubled in May

China’s imports of lithium carbonate rose 103% from Apr to 3,040 mt in May

SHANGHAI, Jun 28 (SMM) – China’s imports of lithium carbonate rose 103% from April to 3,040 mt in May, showed the latest data from China Customs.

Exports of lithium carbonate expanded 98% to 1,117 mt.

For lithium hydroxide, imports dropped 89% to 26 mt, while exports grew 23% to 3,390 mt.

M2i, Volato, and Regenerate Technology Global Partner to Advance Sustainable Battery Recycling in the U.S.
M2i Global, Inc. and Volato Group, Inc., together with Regenerate Technology Global, have formed a strategic partnership announced on April 20, 2026, to develop and deploy advanced battery recycling technology in the United States. The new approach is designed to be much more efficient and environmentally friendly, reducing energy use by more than 80% and cutting greenhouse gas emissions by around 90% compared to conventional smelting processes. On April 21, news emerged that Zhaoxin Shares disclosed an announcement regarding its wholly-owned subsidiary's external investment to establish a joint venture company. The company's wholly-owned subsidiary, Qinghai Ruiqi New Material Technology Co., Ltd., plans to sign a "Joint Venture Operating Agreement" with Shenzhen Chaochuang Sanre New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. to jointly invest in establishing a joint venture company, deepening upstream and downstream supply chain cooperation in salt lake resources.
