Wider import losses slow declines in Shanghai-bonded copper stocks

SHANGHAI, Jun 28 (SMM) – Copper stocks across Shanghai bonded areas saw a smaller decline this week, as wider import losses lowered purchases, with signs of a weakening in Yangshan premiums.

Stocks declined 7,000 mt from a week ago to stand at 455,000 mt as of Friday June 28, compared with a drop of 20,000 mt in the week ended June 21, showed SMM data.

In North China, spot #1 copper cathode against the front-month contract was quoted at discounts of 250-150 yuan/mt, with an average discount of 200 yuan/mt, unchanged from the previous trading day. The average transaction price was 103,980 yuan/mt, down 375 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.
