SHANGHAI, Jun 27 (SMM) – China’s hydrogen energy industry is targeting an annual economic output exceeding 10 trillion yuan by 2050, according to the White Paper for Chinese Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Industry released by the China Hydrogen Alliance on Wednesday June 26.
By 2050, hydrogen is expected to account for some 10% of China’s energy system, with demand for helium growing to nearly 60 million mt.
Production of fuel cell vehicles is expected to reach 5.2 million units in a year, with that of stationary power generators to reach 20,000 units.
Meanwhile, the costs for producing hydrogen will likely fall below 10 yuan/kg. This will cut carbon dioxide emission by some 700 million mt.
The release also mentioned that the number of hydrogen fuelling stations is expected to reach 100 and 1,500 by 2020 and 2030, respectively.
