China’s transport investment in Jan-May grows 7.3% YoY

Realised investment in transport grew 7.3% year on year to reach 1.01 trillion in Jan-May

SHANGHAI, Jun 26 (SMM) – China's fixed-asset investment in transport maintained its steady growth in the first five months of the year, official data showed on Wednesday June 26.

Realised investment in transport grew 7.3% year on year to reach 1.01 trillion in January-May, the Ministry of Transport said in a statement. This was 6.6 percentage points faster than the growth for the year of 2018.

Investment in highways and waterways totalled 753.7 billion yuan for the same period, up 4.8% from a year ago. This accounted for 41.9% of the target 1.8 trillion yuan for this year, 1.3 percentage points faster than the same period last year.

In January-May, investment in railway construction rose 12.6% year on year to 224.4 billion yuan, and investment in the civil aviaton sector expanded 39.5% to 35.7 billion yuan.
