Shandong Weiqiao to replace obsolete capacity by end-2019

SHANGHAI, Jun 25 (SMM) – Shandong Weiqiao Group, one of the top aluminium producers in China, will disassemble 543,000 mt of primary aluminium capacity and replace it with new capacity of 542,000 mt by the end of this year, said the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong province on its website on Monday June 24. 

New capacity for replacement has finished construction, and will come online once the obsolete capacity is removed in December. The disassembling work commenced in June. 

Weiqiao will replace its ageing production lines with new equipment, including 190 sets of high-performing 600 kA electrolytic tanks, while maintaining current capacity.
