In May 2019, China's stainless steel exports totaled 319200 tons, an increase of 20600 tons over April, an increase of 6.90 percent, and a decrease of 134900 tons, or 29.71 percent, from the same period last year. Imports totaled 70400 tons, up 22500 tons from April, an increase of 46.91 percent, and down 154000 tons, or 68.75 percent, from the same period last year.

In May 2019, Indonesia imported a total of 25200 tons of stainless steel, an increase of 500 percent over April and a decrease of 73.47 percent from May last year. Indonesian stainless steel imports rebounded in May, mainly due to the increase in billet imports from zero in April to 19600 tons in May, while imports of hot plates and cold rolling remained small.

Of these, 162tons of hot rolled products were imported in May, down 60.00 percent from 500 tons in April, 5400 tons in cold rolling, up 45.95 percent from 3700 tons in April, and 19600 tons of billets were imported in May, including 9600 tons of slabs.
