Shanghai-bonded zinc stocks fall below 100,000 mt

Stocks declined 6,900 mt week on week to stand at 93,300 mt as of Jun 21

SHANGHAI, Jun 24 (SMM) – Stocks of refined zinc across Shanghai-bonded warehouses fell for a fourth straight week below 100,000 mt in the week ended June 21, losing 6,900 mt week on week to stand at 93,300 mt, showed SMM data.

Losses on imported zinc expanded last week as the ratio of SHFE zinc prices to LME zinc rapidly slipped after the delivery of the SHFE June contract at the start of the week.

A small amount of seaborne zinc flowed into domestic markets last week, while some cargoes left the bonded area for re-export.

3 Dutch Ports (Inc. Rotterdam) Strike Planned for September 4, Cargo Handling and Logistics Face Disruption
According to an August 28 advisory from logistics company Beckchoice, Dutch unions FNV and CNV have called on workers in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Zeeland ports to halt ship-handling activities from 11:15 to 19:00 local time on September 4. The action is part of a campaign against proposed changes and cuts to the Netherlands’ social security system. The planned stoppage could disrupt cargo loading and unloading, towage and related operations, delaying vessel schedules, cargo collections and onward transport. Some disruption could persist beyond the strike period, with the extent depending on worker participation and individual terminal operations.

August Refined Zinc Production Realized: Where Will September Production Head? [SMM Analysis]
[August Refined Zinc Production Realized, Where Will September Production Go?] In August 2026, China's refined zinc production rose over 2.6% MoM but fell nearly 8.7% YoY. From January to August, cumulative smelter production was up less than 1% YoY, below expectations. The August smelter production shortfall versus expectations was mainly due to output increases at some large plants falling short of expectations, along with more maintenance than anticipated......
