SMM, June 21, 2019:

The sentiment of the big manufacturers in the antimony industry is still the same this week. Industry leader manufacturer No. 1 antimony ingot prices still adhere to last week's major principle, antimony ingot prices drive the price of other varieties of antimony stable. But there are also signs of a slight loosening in prices at suppliers in some areas this week, with a strong wait-and-see mood on the demand side.

In terms of raw materials: the price of antimony on the outer plate has dropped continuously, and the price of foreign imported minerals has gradually fallen. However, at present, the impact on the raw material price of antimony oxide powder separated from domestic single antimony mine and lead factory has not yet been shown, and the price is still maintained near the gate of 30000 yuan / ton, and the price can be discussed.

Antimony ingots: mainstream large manufacturers and some suppliers continue to stabilize the No. 1 antimony ingot quotations near last week, inquiry activity continues to weaken compared with last week, the actual trading volume also continues to shrink, downstream purchases into a semi-stagnant wait-and-see state. The trading of No. 2 antimony ingots has also turned cold, and the price of No. 2 high bismuth antimony ingots has fallen somewhat due to the large drop in trading volume. However, on the whole, the market price center of antimony ingots has changed little compared with that of last week. By the end of the week, the average antimony price of SMM is 37000 yuan / ton for high bismuth antimony ingots, 38750 yuan / ton for 2 # low bismuth antimony ingots, 39250 yuan / ton for 1 # antimony ingots and 40250 yuan / tons for 0 # antimony ingots.

Antimony trioxide: this week and antimony ingot market performance is the same, antimony trioxide market price as a whole is stable, but the transaction situation is gradually desolate. By the end of the week, the average price of antimony trioxide in SMM is 99.5 per cent at 36000 yuan per ton and 99.8 per cent at 37250 yuan per ton. Antimony trioxide due to the strong market price of antimony ingots, even if the current consumer off-season, but also have to follow to stabilize the price. However, as the price of antimony ingots is likely to become unstable and weak, the price of antimony trioxide may also be adjusted accordingly.

The downward adjustment of external prices has a certain psychological impact on the domestic market, and whether the supply side can persist in calming down is a key variable. But next week antimony prices will gradually shift to the weaker side.

In 2018, China's small metal market was deeply affected by factors such as regular supervision of environmental protection, poor activity, cautious investment speculators entering the market, and so on. Indium germanium rose and then fell, gallium and tellurium high and then stalemate, selenium rushed high and then fell back, antimony performance was flat. In 2019, the residual temperature of China's environmental protection policy is still there, and the trade cloud is still there. The space geometry of domestic small metal enterprises, the extent to which 5G commercial use will stimulate the downstream demand of all kinds of small metals, and where will the small metal market eventually go? Zimbabwe Bans Antimony, Tungsten Exports to Boost Domestic Processing
Market sources state that Zimbabwe has imposed an immediate ban on exports of antimony and tungsten effective September 8, 2026, alongside a halt to outward shipments of ores and concentrates. The measure aims to boost domestic refining and processing of its mining resources and raise resource value‑added benefits. The ban was announced in a letter from Thomas Ushe, Secretary of Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Mines, to the state‑owned Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe. Previously in May 2026, Zimbabwe included antimony in its list of 14 “critical minerals” and banned exports of raw ores. The new order further extends restrictions to all forms of antimony and tungsten exports.
