Hunan high-grade silicon producers suspend in sluggish market
price review forecast
Jun 19,2019

SHANGHAI, Jun 19 (SMM) – High-grade silicon metal producers in Fujian and Hunan held back from production as slack demand kept prices weak, SMM learned.

Most producers in Hunan even shut for maintenance, and it remains unknown when they will resume.

SMM assessments showed that prices of 3303# silicon at Huangpu port held stable at 11,900-12,000 yuan/mt since a decline of 50 yuan/mt in late May, while prices of 2202# at Huangpu port remained at 12,900-13,100 yuan/mt this week after falling 400 yuan/mt last week.

A weak aluminium alloy market, a major consumer of high-grade silicon metal, failed to lend support to silicon prices.
