SMM6, 19 March: recently, according to a report on the website of the Guizhou Provincial people's Government, on June 15, the reporter learned from the academician forum on the theory and methods of deep prospecting for manganese deposits in the Ministry of Natural Resources that at present, Tongren has identified manganese ore reserves of about 708 million tons, ranking first in Asia.

It is reported that about 708 million tons of manganese ore resources have been identified, including four world-class super-large manganese deposits and one super-large manganese-rich deposit. The number of super-large manganese deposits accounts for about 1 to 3 in the world, and the amount of manganese ore resources is 660 million tons, of which the rich manganese ore is more than 100 million tons. It has been found that the reserves of manganese ore resources exceed the sum of manganese ore resources in China in 2011, and the biggest breakthrough in the history of manganese ore geological prospecting in China has been achieved. Tongren area has become the core area of strategic and safe supply of national manganese mineral resources, and Guizhou has become the largest manganese resource base in the country, which has changed the pattern of manganese mineral resources in China.

Four of the world-class super-large manganese deposits are:

Pujue super-large manganese deposit: 203 million tons;

Highland super-large manganese deposits: 161 million tons (of which 72 million tons are rich manganese deposits);

Daotuo super large manganese deposit: 142 million tons;

Taoziping super large manganese deposit: 106 million tons.

At present, most of the four world-class super-large manganese deposits have a depth of 1000 m to 1500 m, with an average grade of 19% to 25%, with the deepest drilling depth of 1800 m.

The report also pointed out that manganese is a very scarce strategic key mineral in the country. At the same time, China is also a large consumer of manganese ores and manganese materials, and 70% of manganese ores need to be imported from abroad every year. The State Council's Strategic Action Plan for Prospecting Breakthrough (2011-2020) lists manganese ore as one of the key minerals and puts forward the exploration objectives and tasks for three, five and eight to ten years. Because manganese is widely used in automobile battery, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials and other fields, the discovery of Tongren manganese mine can fundamentally reverse the situation of our country's manganese mine relying on foreign imports and maintain the security of national resources.

Manganese ores in China are mainly manganese carbonate ores. Domestic manganese oxide ores have been rejected by the manganese alloy industry for a long time because of their low taste and more impurities. Although high-grade manganese oxide ores have also been exploited in Yunnan, China, due to the limited amount of mining, inconvenient transportation and high prices, they are only used in nearby areas, and the source of Gaoping manganese oxide ore is still very dependent on imports. However, domestic manganese carbonate ore is suitable for electrolytic manganese production, so domestic manganese ore still has a place in domestic use. Although Ghana manganese carbonate ore has gradually increased its export to China recently, and at the same time, it has also liberalized the trade mode of port Ghana mine. However, domestic manganese carbonate ores still have transport advantages, price advantages, bargaining advantages and so on.

Manganese ore grade: the content of Mn in manganese ore, generally expressed as a percentage, such as 40% Mn

Wet ton: total weight of moisture, in WMT

Dry ton: total weight after deducting moisture, in DMT

Dry tonnage: the content of manganese for every 1% of the removal of moisture, usually used in the pricing of manganese ore. For example, $4 / dry tonnage means that after the removal of moisture, the price of every 1% manganese in manganese ore is $4.

Mn / Fe ratio: the ratio of manganese content to iron content in manganese ore; similar to the ratio of manganese to phosphorus, etc.

CIQ: China entry and exit inspection and quarantine is China's import and export commodity inspection institutions, manganese ore import law compulsory use of inspection institutions.

Similar third-party inspection agencies also have SGS,CTI and so on.
