Translation 10:52:54AM Jun 17, 2019 Source:China net

SMM News: the National Development and Reform Commission is scheduled to hold a scheduled press conference in June at 10:00 on June 17. A spokesman for the National Development and Reform Commission attended the press conference, released the macroeconomic situation and answered questions from reporters.

Meng Wei:

Price operation. In May, the overall price level in China continued to be basically stable.

For CPI, it was flat in May, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, 2.7 per cent higher than the previous month, 0.2 percentage points higher than the previous month and 2.2 per cent higher from January to May. CPI was flat this month, with eggs and fresh fruits up 6.4 per cent and 10.1 per cent respectively, fresh vegetables down 7.9 per cent, and prices of livestock, aquatic products, dairy and other food and education, tourism and other services falling slightly, hedging the impact of the rise in commodity prices. In addition, the prices of industrial consumer goods rose slightly by 0.1% from the previous month.

On the PPI side, it rose 0.2 per cent in May from a month earlier, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, 0.6 per cent from a year earlier, 0.3 percentage points lower than the previous month, and 0.4 per cent from January to May. This month, PPI rose slightly from the previous month, mainly due to the rise in international oil prices in the early stage, which led to varying degrees of price increases in China's oil exploitation and downstream petrochemical industry. In addition, the ex-factory prices of black and non-ferrous metal processing industries have also increased to varying degrees; the ex-factory prices of electrical machinery equipment, computer and communications equipment manufacturing industries have dropped.

Generally speaking, the year-on-year increases in CPI and PPI in May are in a moderate range, and it is expected that China's prices will continue to maintain the overall stable operation trend for some time to come.
