Demand for secondary copper rod in Hubei remained sluggish

The front-month contract closed at 101,100 yuan/mt in the afternoon session today, up 1,140 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. Secondary copper rod in Hubei was offered at 100,200-100,300 yuan/mt, at a discount of 800-900 yuan/mt (average discount of 850 yuan/mt) against the front-month contract. Affected by wild swings in copper prices and persistently sluggish downstream consumption of secondary copper rod, the actual market trading atmosphere was sluggish, with low activity.

Spot prices of #1 copper cathode in North China against the front-month contract were at a discount of 440–300 yuan/mt today, with an average discount of 370 yuan/mt, up 20 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. Transaction prices ranged from 100,240 to 101,900 yuan/mt, with an average of 101,070 yuan/mt, up 870 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.
