SHANGHAI, Jun 12 (SMM) – Chinese ports saw fewer arrivals of seaborne iron ore last week, exacerbating tight supplies across domestic markets and fuelling steam in prices.
SMM estimates that seventy-eight vessels carrying 11.27 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports in the week ended June 8, down 2.98 million mt from the previous week.
In the last five weeks, seaborne iron ore arrivals have declined for four weeks.
Last week, iron ore deliveries departing Australian ports fell 1.15 million mt week on week to 14.54 million mt, and those leaving Brazilian ports decreased by 750,000 mt to 6.23 million mt, according to SMM data.
