Rates across Anhui, Henan and Jiangsu averaged 52.3% in the week ended Jun 6, up 0.8 percentage point on the week

SHANGHAI, Jun 6 (SMM) – Licensed smelters of secondary lead across Anhui, Henan and Jiangsu provinces operated at an average higher rate in the week to Thursday June 6 as a smelter in Henan ramped up to full capacity after recovery.

SMM data showed that the operating rates across licensed secondary lead smelters of the three areas averaged 52.3% in the week ended June 6, up 0.8 percentage point from the previous week.

The average rate across smelters in Henan grew 8 percentage points on the week, to 75.4% as Henan Jinli hiked to full operation for its two production lines. The smelter is capable of processing some 800 mt of battery scrap per day.

Operating rates across Jiangsu’s smelters held firm at 50% this week. However, the average rate in Anhui extended its decline and lost 4 percentage points on the week, to 36.7%, as Anhui Huaxin remained under maintenance and suspended purchases of battery scrap this week.

Pre-holiday stockpiling by downstream enterprises had largely concluded, and a few had already entered the holiday period, completely suspending procurement. Next week, secondary lead smelters will enter a concentrated wave of production halts and holidays, resulting in sluggish trading activity in the spot market. Offers for spot refined lead orders were sparse, with prices moving in line with the market.

Sluggish Transactions in Domestic Secondary Crude Lead Market, Prices at 15,250-15,400 Yuan/mt
The domestic secondary crude lead market experienced sluggish transactions. As of February 6, 2026, the ex-factory tax-exclusive offers for domestic secondary crude lead stood at 15,250-15,400 yuan/mt. Downstream refined lead and alloy smelters gradually entered the holiday period, showing weak stockpiling willingness. Overseas lead ingot suppliers basically halted transactions with China due to poor consumption in the Chinese market, with only some previously concluded shipments maintaining normal in-transit transportation. The trading atmosphere in the secondary crude lead market will continue to weaken next week.
