Global alumina production fell 1.1% in April from a month earlier

SMM News: according to the International Aluminum Association, global alumina production in April 2019 was about 10.18 million tons, a decrease of about 1.1 percent from the previous month and a slight increase of 0.6 percent over the same period last year. Global alumina production totaled about 40.39 million tons in the January-April period, an increase of about 1.6 per cent over the same period last year.

The data show that in April, China's alumina production was about 5.76 million tons, about the same month-on-month ratio, and Oceania's alumina production was about 1.66 million tons, a decrease of about 1.7 percent from the previous month. Alumina production in Africa and Asia (excluding China) was about 742000 tons, down about 4.5 per cent from the previous month, while alumina production in South America was about 672000 tons, a decrease of about 5.5 per cent from the previous month. In the same month, alumina production in Eastern Europe was about 354000 tons, down 4.8 percent from the previous month; alumina production in Western Europe was about 347000 tons, up 8.4 percent from the previous month; and alumina production in North America was about 190000 tons, unchanged from the previous month.
