SMM News: with the first share of artificial meat Beyond Meat officially landed on NASDAQ on May 2, the concept of artificial meat began to go crazy, an emerging market seems to have been instantly activated, countless investors are fascinated by it. Beyond Meat shares jumped 163% on the day of the IPO, up 290% since the IPO, and celebrities such as Bill Gates and Leonardo have invested in endorsing it, as if a new tuyere has emerged.
, Beyond Meat is said to be a manufacturer of 100 per cent plant-wide meat substitutes in Los Angeles. Founded in 2009, the company is mainly committed to the production of pure botanical ingredients of imitation meat, in order to eliminate the negative impact of the production process in the meat industry. Brown, the company's president, has said that the company's long-term goal is to create a market where goods can be used to meet the growing global demand for meat, especially in markets such as India and China.
Beyond Meat develops and produces a range of foods based on plant proteins. These vegetarian meats are made up of soy and pea protein isolates, as well as yeast and other ingredients. In short, the surface looks very much like meat, but in fact, it is "vegetarian meat", in which the protein comes from plant proteins. According to Bill Gates, he can't eat more than meat and real chicken.
But we know that, from a nutritional point of view, there are two amino acids that plant proteins cannot provide and must be absorbed from animal proteins, which is a fatal problem if artificial meat is to be moved to the table on a large scale in the future. You can look exactly like real meat, or you can taste exactly like real meat, but plant protein is plant protein, and there are two amino acids that don't exist.
In fact, there is another kind of meat in the concept of artificial meat, which is cultured and produced with animal stem cells as the female parent. The general process is to cultivate stem cells in utensils with substances such as amino acids, sugar, oil and so on, so that the meat can grow up slowly. As early as 2013, Mark Post of Maastricht University in the Netherlands showed the public the artificial beef developed by his research team by extracting stem cells from live cattle. Stem cells are then placed in nutritious utensils to grow muscle tissue and eventually form muscle fibers. This kind of meat is real meat, should also be the public really expected artificial meat, but at present because the technology is not mature, the cost is very high, ordinary people simply can not afford to consume.
Barclays expects the artificial meat market to climb to $140 billion over the next decade, accounting for 10 per cent of the meat market. According to Barclays, artificial meat is indeed a direction and tuyere for future economic development. In modern times, where environmental problems are becoming more and more serious, ecological destruction, and a growing shortage of resources, people may have to face problems such as food problems and shrinking animal husbandry in the future. It is a good thing to plan ahead now. Although there is still a long way to go before artificial meat enters the homes of ordinary people, the concept of artificial meat will become a topic of discussion for a long time in the future. I hope that the development of science and technology can bring a better experience to people's lives.
