International stainless Steel Forum: Bernardo Vel á zquez, Chief Executive Officer of Acerinox, was elected Chairman of ISSF

SMM5, 29 March: according to the official website of ACERINOX, Bernardo Vel á zquez, chief executive of Acerinox, has been elected chairman of ISSF (International stainless Steel Forum) for a term of two years (2019-2021). "it's an honor for me and Acerinox, and we will continue to represent a very competitive and exciting industry," he said. "I am committed to my entire career and promoting stainless steel, which is the material of the future."

Founded in 1986, ISSF is the World Association of stainless Steel Manufacturers representing major producers. The aim is to represent the sector in its dealings with international organizations, to defend its common interests, to promote stainless steel consumption, and to compile research and statistical data.

It is reported that since Bernardo Vel á zquez joined Acerinox in 1990, he has worked in the international stainless steel industry for nearly 30 years and held a number of positions. After returning to Spain, he worked in Mexico and Australia as Assistant General Manager, Systems Manager and Strategic Manager in 2005. In 2007, he was appointed managing director until he was appointed chief executive.

In addition, Nippon Steel representative director and President Ito (Hitoshi Ito), Aperam Group Chief Executive Officer Timoteo Di Maulo, Posco Senior Executive Vice President Jeong Tak and Otto Kunpu Chief Executive Officer Roeland Baan were elected Vice Chairman. Clement Slyle (Clemens Iller) of Schmolz+Bickenbach was elected treasurer.
