SHANGHAI, May 29 (SMM) – Qinghai-based miner Huasheng Industry & Trade recovered production of lead and zinc concentrate from the start of last week after it suspended on weather issues at the end of November, a source told SMM on Tuesday May 28.
A falling market is expected to cap its output below regular levels in the next two months after resumption.
Weather conditions limit operation of the miner to a maximum of seven months in a year. It sells products of lead and zinc concentrate to smelters in Qinghai and Henan provinces.
With an annualised capacity of 5,000 mt lead concentrate and 8,000 mt zinc concentrate, both in metal content, the miner produced some 400 mt lead concentrate and 600 mt zinc concentrate in October, the month before suspension.
For May, it is expected to generate 100 mt lead concentrate and 150 mt zinc concentrate. It currently holds no inventory of finished products.
