Raw material shortage suspends copper rod output at Shandong Xiangrui

Suspension is estimated to lower its output to 7,000 mt in May

SHANGHAI, May 24 (SMM) – Shandong Xiangrui Copper Material suspended its output of copper rod through the week ended Friday May 24 as its vendor of copper cathode underwent maintenance and stopped providing feedstock to the rod producer, a source told SMM on Friday May 24.

Copper rod production at the plant is expected to restart by the end of May, after the supply of copper cathode resumes.

The suspension is estimated to lower copper rod output at Xiangrui to 7,000 mt in May.

With an annualised capacity of 320,000 mt, the company produced some 130,000 mt of copper rod in 2018.
