North China's Shanxi province plans to shut 58 non-coal mines that fail to meet safe production standards, xinhuanet.com reported on Thursday May 23.
There were 2,713 non-coal mining companies across Shanxi as of the end of 2018.
Local authorities launched production inspections across non-coal mines in April. This move will last for about seven months and targets metal, non-metal, underground, open-pit mines, tailings ponds, beneficiation plants, oil and natural gas fields and small stone factories.
